General Manager’s Newsletter
I would like to thank all members for their support of our new catering team, ‘CHOP & CHEW’ headed up by Head Chef Pradeep.
We have some major events planned that will now be supported by quality catering to ensure that members’ and guests’ experience is first class.
As we transition to shorter days to avoid reducing the number of tee times available for golf competitions all players need to be respectful of their fellow members and ensure that their pace of play is in accordance with club policy noted bellow.

Belmont will be hosting Australia’s Number 1 player Aaron Sheriff, and the World’s Singles Champion Lee Schraner who will be part of the Raymond Terrace Jets Grade 1 Pennant Team when they take on our Belmont Team in April. Aaron has Represented Australia at the Commonwealth Games, winning 2 bronze and a gold medal, and the Asia Pacific games winning 4 x Gold medals 1 x Silver and 1 x Bronze, and currently sits atop the Bowls Australia standings. Lee Schraner is an 8 time National Champion, 9 time National Grand Prix Champion and 21 time State Champion and the only player in history to have won the national champion of champion gold 3 times. Raymond Terrace boast other rep players right through their side and our Belmont Men and Women get a chance to host and take on the highest calibre players in Australia.
On the day we will have our entire grassed Alfresco area available as well as a great viewing area to sit and enjoy food and drinks while witnessing the best players Australia has to offer. Our venue is one of the best around and the bowls will be on rain hail or shine, so free up a few hours and come on down. There will also be some activities for the kids on the grassed area during play.

Belmont has two women’s teams playing in the Club Challenge on Wednesdays. One of those sides of nine (9) in this photo shows our team ready to travel to Lowlands to play the undefeated side in their section and very nearly beat them coming away with a draw. The ladies have loved the concept of the game, and we might even see more powerplays (double points) at the club level as a result. March In Review – BowlsMarch again was a big month with our semi finals of the club major pairs completed. The final will be contested between Ben McAlpine (seeking a trifecta of pairs titles) and Bill Wiltshire taking on Rob Robertson and Rob Koenig on Sunday the 16th of April at 12:30pm. Glen Malligan has been performing well making the final 8 in the district senior singles, we wish him well for the the next round. History was made with our first all woman’s side in the Saturday Pennants at Belmont with 2 women also in our top 12 players. We are extremely excited to be a progressive club and look forward to these women motivating others to be amongst the clubs best. For player’s safety please continue to use the far green (northern end) and if player numbers require use of the other green please fill the northern rinks first. Should a roll up not be necessary please wait for a rink to free up on the northern green or join your fellow members on their rink. Thank you, you support and cooperation is appreciated whilst we endeavour to have the protective netting repaired. |
